Uniform & Presentation
At Elite Dance Company, our uniform and presentation standards help create a professional, safe and focused training environment.
Wearing the correct dancewear allows teachers to clearly assess alignment, technique and movement, while appropriate footwear, hair and personal presentation help keep dancers safe during class.
All dancers are expected to arrive at the studio clean, neatly presented and dressed appropriately for their classes.
Elite Dance Company Uniform
Students are required to wear Elite Dance Company uniform to their regular classes.
Dancewear should be:
Clean and in good condition
Appropriate for the class being attended
Correctly fitted so dancers can move safely
Clearly labelled with the dancer's name
Dancers should arrive dressed and ready to begin their class on time.
Hair for Recreational Dancers
Recreational dancers must have their hair neatly tied back and secured away from their face for all classes.
Hair for Performance Team Dancers
All Performance Team dancers are required to wear their hair in a neat ballet bun for every class, regardless of the dance style being attended.
This is part of the presentation and training standard expected of Elite Dance Company Performance Team members.
Ballet Uniform
Students attending ballet must wear:
A leotard
Ballet stockings
Leather, full-sole ballet shoes
Hair neatly secured in a ballet bun
Loose clothing should not be worn over ballet attire during class unless approved by the teacher, as teachers need to be able to clearly see the dancer's alignment and technique.
Jazz Footwear
Black jazz shoes are required for Jazz classes.
Dancers should ensure their shoes fit correctly, are in good condition and are clearly labelled with their name.
Socks Are Not Dance Shoes
Dancers are not permitted to participate in class wearing socks in place of appropriate dance shoes or bare feet where required.
Socks can create a slipping hazard and do not provide the appropriate grip, support or control required for safe dance training.
Dancers must bring the correct footwear required for each class.
Jewellery & Accessories
For safety, dancers must remove:
Watches
Jewellery
Dangling or loose accessories
Safety pins or other sharp items
before participating in class.
Where possible, valuable jewellery and personal items should be left at home rather than brought to the studio.
Personal Hygiene
Dance is a physically demanding activity and dancers train in close proximity to teachers and other students. Good personal hygiene is therefore an important part of being considerate of everyone sharing the studio.
Dancers are expected to:
Arrive in clean dancewear
Wear fresh, clean stockings and socks where applicable
Maintain good personal hygiene
Use deodorant where age-appropriate
Keep dance shoes and equipment clean and aired
Ensure hair is clean, neat and appropriately secured
Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during training
We ask parents and caregivers to help younger dancers develop these habits as part of preparing independently and responsibly for class.
Dance Bags & Belongings
All dancewear, shoes, drink bottles and personal belongings should be clearly labelled with the dancer's name.
Dancers should bring only the items they need for training and keep their belongings neat and organised.
Elite Dance Company is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal property. Unclaimed lost property is kept for a limited period and disposed of at the end of each term.
Ready for Class
Before leaving home, dancers should check:
✓ Correct uniform
✓ Correct shoes
✓ Hair secured appropriately
✓ Jewellery removed
✓ Water bottle
✓ Dance bag packed
✓ Ready to learn
